The Transfer to End all Transfers August 25 2014

Well it is official. I am going to spend the last 6 weeks here in Angleton with Sister McBride! I am so excited for this next transfer I can hardly contain myself. There is so much that is going to happen. I know that the blessings are just going to flood over us as we do everything we can to qualilfy for them.

This week we had Bernice and Tony Jr interviewed for baptism!! And they were all ready!! but then Bernices boyfriend stepped in and started to make her doubt. I know they will be baptized, but not his weekend! It was sad, but not all hope is lost. :)

This is our District at an Italian resturant! It was our celebration for Elder Eldred since he is leaving for home today! (He is the one with the glasses)

We went bowling! :) It was a blast. That is Kadee and Ivy! Recent converts. :)

This next week is going to be incredible! This work is so important! I know that as we work hard even the disapointments are not so bad. I know that God is proud of my work. He is watching over us and is guiding us. :) The things of life are hard but worth it because everyone means so much to God. :)

Smile!

Chilli cookoff August 18 2014

Baptisms, musical performances, moving furniture, testifying, peppermint oil, dominican republic, speaking Portu-englin-ish, Sonic 1/2 priced shakes, homemade chicken pot pie, prepared people, tears of joy, fighting to stay awake in planning,... and so much more! This week was awesome!

We met 7 more people who are prepared to recieve the gospel. Danielle Gilstrap was baptized on Saturday. She is the best friend of one of the youth in the ward that has been coming to church for a couple weeks now. She is awesome!! So prepared and the McDearmonts have been there to answer questions the entire ride. Her mom Tara is now taking the lessons!

Bernice and her family are doing awesome! They are going to have FHE with the Whipples and us on Tuesday and we are stoked about it! The ward is awesome at reaching out to people who we are teaching! We are excited to continue to help them. WE just love them so much. :)

I met two girls this week and their names are Jordan and McKayla.. it was sorta weird. ahah They are cool, but it is still weird saying those names together when I am not talking about myself and my brother!.. ahah :P

This weekend we also had the Texas famous Chili Cook off!! The chili was so good! I really had no idea how many different kinds of chili you could eat before I came to Texas. My favorite was #15.. I don't know what was in it.. but it was good!! (although it wasn't really a fair vote from me since I only tried 3..)
A couple less active sisters came to the chili cook off so that was fun! :) We had set up for some investigators to come as well but it didn't happen. It was a little disappointing, but that is just how life goes sometimes. :) It just means we need to try harder this week!! :)

Well ya'll are awesome! Thank you for all the support!

Temple Trip August 9 2014

So I am emailing a little early this week.. and this is because we get to go to the temple today!!

And what makes this day even better than normal temple days is that we get to go with one my my recent converts who is going to be sealed to his wife for eternity!! Jim Chaplin is getting sealed today and I am overly excited to go and be there on this special day! I taught him with Sister Howard a year ago when I was in Alief area.

He was super prepared for the gospel. He actually attended church for a year before he decided to start taking the missionary discussions, but once he started to learn he was on fire and was baptized almost right after I was transferred to Silverlake. I was not able to go to the baptism, which was a little sad... but today totally makes up for it!! :)

This marriage that is performed in the temple is done by the priesthood power. The scripture tell us what happens when ordinances are performed by this power.
Helaman 10:7

Behold, give unto you powerthat whatsoever ye shall seal on earth shall be sealed in heaven; and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven; and thus shall ye have power among this people.

So since this is being performed by this power, which was restored to the prophet Joseph Smith in the 1800s by 3 of Christ original apostles, it is going to be sealed on earth as well as being sealed in heaven. :) I know that this is only possible through this power from God and that He gives it to his servants to bless us and to teach us more about Him. It is going to be such a great day!!

Angel is getting baptized this weekend!! It will be on Sunday right after church. We are so excited for him! He has been making friends with a ton of the kids in the Spanish branch and some in the Lake Jackson ward and has been going to all sorts of activities. I am so happy for him and I know that he is going to help so many people in his family.. and when he gets to serve a mission himself. :) YAY!

Bernice and her family are just so awesome. We taught her the law of chastity the other day and she is actually not married to the father of her 5 kids, but she wants to go and live in her moms apartment so they can live the Law of Chastity even though her boyfriend has a much bigger house that is cleaner and has more room for the kiddos. She wants to live the gospel and she wants to have an eternal family. They are planning to get married, but she doesn't want to be breaking this commandment now even though they are planning on being married soon. We told her how sometimes keeping the commandments seem hard, but they are so worth it. We are blessed with so much more than we can even comprehend.

I know this gospel is true and I am so grateful for all of the things that my Heavenly Father takes the time to teach me.

Have a good week ya'll!

Angleton August 4 2014

Dear People,

Can I just say that Sister McBride is so much fun and makes me laugh all the time!? We are just always laughing it is the best thing ever.

This was Sister McBrides first day of biking!! The before pic...

and the after! haah We were winded but it was so fun.

We had a very good awesome wonderful stupendous week! Bernice and Tony are learning more and are getting more and more excited about being sealed together as a family. They could not come to church this week because of prior commitments, but they are for sure coming this week! :) They are wonderful we love them so much.

Our investigator Neika is awesome as well. She made a comment this week when she said, "I want to get baptized.. and I want to do it before you leave!!" So I told her I would love for her to get baptized when she knows that the church is true. She loves the Book of Mormon and is just trying to make sure she really believes everything we are sharing with her. We told her that the only thing she really has to know is if the Book of Mormon is true. If that book is true then everything that goes with it is true as well. I know that the Book of Mormon has changed my life. What I mean by that is that the Book of Mormon has made me think about my relationship with God on a deeper level. I have more desires to do good and I have more capacity to follow Christ. It is such a beautiful thing. I know Neika is starting to see that and I just love seeing that light enter into the lives of others.

This is a display of the Plan of Salvation that we made for Bernice and her kids. They loved it, even though it was made with limited resources.. it was made with love!  I need to get a picture of them one of these days. They are the cutest family ever. :)

Anyway, keep up the faith! :) Choose to believe that God knows you and loves you. :) It is true!
